Meridian hopper bottom silos
The biggest advantage of hopper bottom silos compared to flat bottom is the discharge of the grain. With hopper bottom bins, gravity and gently pounding of the sides of the silo with a rubber mallet will discharge all the grain. However, the hopper, as built in Canada, cannot be shipped in a container and so needs to be sourced locally. Also, installation of a hopper bottom silo is more challenging.
Meridian is unique among global grain storage companies in that the focus is on the small and mid-level segment rather than the large, which makes it ideal for India. Meridian’s offerings with hopper bottom bins or silos range from 91 metric tons to 285. If spoilage of grain in the silo is prevented by following best practices, Meridian bins can last 30 years and are known to last up to 50 years in some farms in Canada.
The grains supported with the Meridian silos include cereals, oil seeds & pulses.
